The Abu Malik-Sunidhi en-chanting experience

It was an en-chanting experience for composer-singer Abu Malik and singer Sunidhi Chauhan as they got together to create a melodious fare for Varun Khanna's Bad Luck Govind.
Sayd Abu Malik, "Director Varun knows his craft very well. He got the chanting nam-myoho-renge-kyo and wanted me to weave a song using the chanting. It was an interesting experience, as the words have deeper meaning." The mantra stands for the sublime supreme Law of the Universe besides the vibration of everything and anything in the Universe -- Energy.

When chanted, it is said that one immediately taps into Buddhahood, an enlightened state of mind, body, and spirit. Also, time without end... And the words are the Title of the Lotus Sutra. While Nam means Devotion (to the) MyoHo means Mystic Law (of the), Renge stands for Lotus Flower and Kyo is Sutra.  Nam-Myho-Renge-Kyo, thus is the mirror to both the soul and the Universe. It explains how the entire Universe is interdependent and interconnected, and it's the Law of the Gods.
When a person chants Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo, he accepts to  bring out the Universe from within and connect it to the Universe above. His vibrations are heard when he chants Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo, and it is said that these chantings will protect and guide him through this lifetime and the next.
So, armed with the powerful mantra, Abu Malik set about making a beautiful song with lyricist Madan Pal lending a lyrical meaning and soul to his music.

Love: A universal emotion.

On 15Dec 2008 at Museum Art Gallery, Kala Ghoda, Daxa Khandwala celebrated the inauguration ceremony of her paintings exhibition Love: a universal emotion with 'Make a Wish' foundation's five kids.

Among the celebrities were singer Madhushree, DJ Vipin & model Priyanka, actor Khushboo Gupta, Tabu & Richard Rothmans, Veronique from the trade commission of France, Saina NC, Bijon Dasgupta, producer Shayam Singhania, Malti & Mudit Jain, maharani of Jaisalmer Hema Kumari, filmmaker Mitsy Ferrant, artists Milon Mukherjee, Hufreesh, Prithvi Soni, K Prakash, Madhusudan, Vipta Kapadia, Amisha Mehta with the other who's who of the art world and Pg3 celebs, who graced the event. 

There was a huge antique metal pot filled with water & flower and each of the guests and celebrities lit a floating candle and floated in the pot. Which was for the long life of the Make a Wish foundation's kids and Mumbai's peace & a homage to the all the brave martyrs of 26/11.  

Daxa Khadwala said, "I always wanted to do something for these kids and I wish that a good sale will help me contribute better. With this exhibition I just want that we all should spread this universal emotion- Love, which keeps us together and alive."

Mini Marathon at Lokhandwala Andheri (West)

Marathon for fitness and cause

 Marathon of 3 and 5 kilometers was organised by Lokhandwala Resident Association for fitness of people and their homage to the police officers and aam janta who died in Mumbai on 26th nov 08.This is the sixth marathon organised by the association.Event stated on time at 7.30 am.More than 2000 people came for the marathon.500 people ran for 5 kilometer marathon and 1000 people ran for 3 kilometer marathon.Jojo came first from bollywood side.Raja Hassan,Kamal Mahrshi from UKand Susheel Jangira also came for the marathon.All singers sang lot of songs for the people who died in the attack by terrorist.There was all categories for the people who came for marathon.People became emotional after hearing vande matram and other patriotic songs sung by Jojo,Raja Hasan and Kamal Mahrshi.Organisers were very happy after seeing the energy of the people. 

When the canvas came alive with John Fernandes works…

He immortalised women in his frozen frames, in his works of art that he so artistically created on the canvas. And when fate snatched away the life of artist John Fernandes, his wife Agnes Fernandes ensured that he came alive in his works.

Hence, on Dec 5, at Hirji Gallery, at the first floor of Jehangir Art Gallery, Kala Ghoda, Agnes Fernandes celebrated the inauguration of an unforgettable immortal artist John Fernandes' works.

Among the celebrities who graced the event were curator Bharat Patel, singer Madhushree, music dir Robby Badal, actor Kapil Sharma, DJ Vipin, Nisha Jamwal, artists Daxa Khandwala, Gautam Patole, Rupali Madan, Prithvi Soni, Venkatesh Dornal, and glitterati of the likes of Joanne and Vinod Nair, Ashwini Kakkad, Malti Jain, Renu Patel  among others graced the occasion.

"John Fernandes is one of the great Indian artists who has through his canvas, brought amazing sensuality of Indian women. His water colours are unparallel. The artist who is no more with us but has left everlastiing memory through his works," said Bharat Patel of Art Desh the Studio.

"John Fernandes is considered to be one of the finest realistic painters not in India but also the world over. He created sensuous women without undressing them that was the essence of his strokes," added Gautam Patole.

What started out with a bang, ended with a 'blast'. When Zulfi Syed invited his friends of 'Bigg Boss' at a suburban five-star hotel on Wednesday to celebrate the completion of the reality show, little did he know that the celebrations would be thrown off gear because of a development so big, it would shatter the entire Mumbai city.

As guests including Rahul Mahajan, Raja Choudhary, Rakhi Vijan, Shawar Ali and others started coming in and celebrating, news that "there has been some firing in South Mumbai" started pouring in from media reporters present at the event. Oblivious to the scale of the issue, the party went on – till a deafening blast nearby the hotel, shook everyone up.

Zulfi consulted his publicist Dale Bhagwagar who called a few TV media guys who had rushed out to cover what they had heard. They had found out that a taxi had exploded just two buildings away near the domestic airport, and some people were blown to shreds on the road. 

The publicist then called his friends covering crime beat and found out the magnanimity of the situation in South Mumbai too. He asked Zulfi to stop all celebrations and explained the situation to a shaken and jittery Rahul Mahajan, who was refusing to believe what he heard.

Zulfi then requested everyone to stay back in the hotel for a few hours till the situation outside calmed down. He then SMS'd all the other invitees who were yet to come in, requesting them to head back home. What had begun with a lot of sparkle had ended with jitters.

THREE PARTY IN ONE  NIGHT

Mishti Mukherjee celebrated her birthday , walked on ramp on jodha akbar theme and also her first look of her album was shown to everyone. Fashin show was choreographed by Babla Kathuria.Event started on time as the event was outdoor.Mishti came on trolley in wedding costume.Sukla Mukherjee, mother of Misti came on stage with crane.It was really a bollywood event.Raja chaudhry also walked on ramp with Mishti and Babla.Raja after getting more popularity from Bigg Boss took  off his shirt on the ramp.He was trying to copy Salman Khan.Sanjay Chel was the first to come for the party.Meera from Pakistan came with Kamaal khan.They were seen together for the entire party.Other guest who came for the party were Shravan Rathod,Kumar Sahil,Dj Sheizwood,Dj T-nu,Yuvraaj Parashar,Shipra,Satish Shetty,Manik soni,Yogesh Lakhani.Sonu Sood ,Bali Brahmbhatt,Shiva and Abhishek Awasthi  were the last to come for the party.Mishti cut the cake with her family and guest who came for the party.Cake was made in three floors as there was three occassions.The party went till vee hours.    

Leading Artists show their 'Creative Expressions'

At ArtDesh the Studio, Tardeo, Mumbai on 20Nov 2008 Mr Pritish Nandi inaugurated Creative Expressions, a series of paintings by 10 artists from different regions of India. This group was formed by two very senior artists Mr Dhiren Sasmal (Kolkata) and Mrs Chandana Khan (Hyderabad) around five years back. They have been doing shows all over India, sometimes interchanging the members keeping the core group intact. Hence this group show has included three artists from Mumbai Debjani Datta, Ananya Banerjee and Nirmala Pillai.

Dhiren Sasmal feels" The young talents from different parts of the country need to be encouraged and given the scope to express their creativity. We have plans to introduce Art Camps, where we will invite different artists and then it will be easier for us to choose them and their work too for our Group Exhibitions." Where Chandana had a view, "they are also given the space and freedom to express their creativity; we do not impose our thought on them but ofcourse we do stress a lot on new forms of expressions through their own talents." 

This time the artists were Dhiren Sasmal, Chandana Khan, Ashok Ganguly, Tarun Chakraborty, Nirmala Pillai, Debjani Datta, Anannya Banerjee, Subrata Sen, Sujit Ghosh and the most senior artist in all of them Samir Aich (who couldn't make to this exhibition at Mumbai as he had other assignments in Kolkatta).

Pritish Nandi says about the exhibition, "I have been invited in many exhibitions and those shows were predictable, but I am really happy to visit here and finding new talents with a perfect blend of skills and flavors."

Among the other artists and celebs were Chiru Chakravarty with wife Rachna, Prithvi Soni, Daxa Khandwala, Rupali Madan, Piu Sarkar, Viren Shah, Shammi Kapoor's son Adiya Raj Kapoor with wife Priti Kapoor, Vijay Kalantari, Nirmal Jhaveri, Navin Gandharv and the owner of ArtDesh the Studio Bharat Patel with wife Renu Patel.

CLIMAX OF FILM BHAVANAO KO SAMJHO AT FILMCITY

Sunil Pal is busy  with the shooting of climax scene for his film Bhavanao ko samjho at halipad,filmcity.This is the last schedule of the film.Maximum artist were availble for the shoot.Raju Srivastava is playing the don in the film.He has made hindu cremation(shamshaan) place as his adda ..Everybody in climax is running one after another to catch the girl or mangalstra.Sunil Pal,Navin Prabhakar,Ahsaan Qureshi,Khayali,Rajeev,Jhonny Lever,Raja and Rancho,Sunil Lahiri,Sangmitra and others were there for the shoot..Sambhavna Seth is doing an item number in the film.Sunil Pal told the media that his film will be ready by january and we are plannig to release the film in january or latest by february. The film has more than 50 standup artist.This is first film by Sunil Pal where he is writer,director,actor,lyricist,singer and producer.

Akbar Khan's Taj is back and wow! After winning accolades and critical acclaim at the Damascus Film Fest where the Director's Cut of Taj Mahal – an Eternal Love story was showcased at the opening ceremony of the 'Special Indian Night', Akbar Khan's magnum opus is all set to make waves at the IFFI – India and  the Cairo International Fest this month.

"The Taj Mahal is considered to be the greatest wonder of the world and has become the focus of innumerable romantic stories. It has inspired kings, queens, commoners, heads of states, artists, poets, photographers; connoisseurs of beauty ever since it was build 350 years ago. It is with this inspiration that I dared to produce and direct the magnum opus on the eternal love story of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal," said an emotional Akbar Khan. "And  am proud Taj is getting back the glory it deserved,"  

The film was also recently invited by the Govt. of Abu Dhabi for a special screening at the Al-Dhafra Theatre of Authority for Culture & Heritage, besides being selected by Dubai International Film Festival committee for a world premiere on Dec 11. Earlier, The Hon'ble Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh who saw the film with his family presented a print of this film to the former President of Pakistan Gen. Parvez Musharraff for his viewing, as a gift from India. Taj has also been adorned by two Indian National Awards for best costumes and art direction by Hon'ble President of India Mrs. Pratibha Patil.

Besides Pooja Batra, Shawar Ali, Bunty Grewal, Ali,  Praveen Sirohi, Yusuf Lakdawala with hosts Mariam Khan and Akbar Khan had a whale of a time. 

Subhash Ghai-Bhushan Kumar toast to Yuvvraaj musical success

Musical giants T Series and legendary Showman Subhash Ghai's Mukta Arts celebrated the success of Subhash Ghai's musical extravaganza Yuvvraaj at Whistling Woods on Nov 17 at 5pm. The musical celebration of this multi-starrer saw the entire cast and crew of the film descending at the venue.

The legendary showman Subhash Ghai, music mogul Krishan Kumar, stars Anil Kapoor, Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Zayed Khan along with AR Rahman legendary lyricist Gulzar, Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal spoke on the magnificent music of the Ghai magnum opus.

"The success of the music depends upon the quality and power of music first, but more than that, it depends how it reaches to maximum people. Today we all give full marks to T-Series to make the music of Yuvvraaj heard and appreciated the world over within a month… It is their passion and love to bring Yuvvraaj on top of the charts… congrats and thanks to every member of T-Series"… said an elated Subhash Ghai.

Added an equally enthusiastic Bhushan Kumar,  "We had an overwhelming response to a truly fantastic sound-track. All across the world, the music is scaling to the top of the charts. The music has worked wonders on all platforms -- physical, digital and radio stations… This Subhash Ghai-A R Rahman–Gulzarji's combo is simply superb!"

Krishan Kumar expressed his happiness at the success of the music while AR Rahman said it was only a person like Bhushan Kumar who could put the album out in the market in record time and that was laudable and the response to the music spoke of its success. Sonu Nigam and Sreya expressed their feelings about the music and even hummed a few lines. The normally elusive AR Rahman did a bit of humming himself.

Humour ruled the roost with the wisecracks of Salman boosted by Showman Ghai. Zayed Khan and Anil Kapoor played on sportingly. Katrina was pretty and emcee Siddarth Kannan did a bit of the questioning himself turning journalist on the podium.

Yuvvraaj is a musical story of a fragmented family of three brothers Set in Prague and Vienna, this musical extravaganza tells a story of two brothers Salman Khan and Zayed Khan who are in desperate need of money, and have to woo their eldest brother, Anil Kapoor to share their inherited property left by their late father. The father in his 'will' had left the entire property worth billions to his eldest son Anil Kapoor, who is mentally undeveloped, challenged for his age, and is a tough nut to crack. The leading lady Katrina Kaif is a musician and the beloved of Salman Khan in the film. She plays the catalyst in this family drama through the echo of her music.

As though to mark it Salman was presented the musical instrument from the film by Katrina, while Katrina herself was presented a painting of hers by an artist. Salman gave her the work and expressed his appreciation for the artist as well.

NEW FORM  OF CRICKET WITH BOLLYWOOD COLOUR

T -10 Gully Inter State Cricket tournament was inagurated by VVS Laxman and Anoop Wadhva who is the organiser of the tournament.Charu sharma was the master of ceremony.This tournament will have 55 matches in 8 cities (jallandhar, chandjgarh, kanpur, lucknow, surat, thane, nashik, pune).The matches will of 10 overs.Four bollywood teams came for the inaguration of the tournament.Kaash Mere Hote,Lottery,Actorletics and Kashmakash Zindagi Ki played matches between them.Actorletics won the match.Charu Sharma also played from one of the teams in the inaguration.Artist who played the matches were Shravan Rathod,Sanjeev -Darshan,Labh Janjua,Manisha Kelkar,Sikander Khan,DJ Sheizwood,Bobby Darling,Shakti Singh,Santok Singh,Sana,Kumar Sahil,Faisal Khan,Amit and many more.Everyone was so exited that they played till 9pm under flood lights.This tounament will be live on DD Sports.  

Singers of Today at the Mahurat of "Tomorrow" 

Sarang Entertainment launched their maiden venture a Hindi feature film titled "TOMORROW", with song recording at Sound City, Empire House, Andheri W. The event was well attended by the music fraternity, music was given by Murtuza Mustafa and Qadir Mustafa, the voice was led by Padmabhushan Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan, to give ovation were Sonu Nigam, Shaan, Ismail darbar, Sameer Sen, Mauli Dave, Shruti Pathak, Actor Anuuj Sahwney and others. Producers Mr. Ghulam Rabbani Khan and Mr. Ovez Shaikh were happy for their maiden venture and so was director Amjad Khan.

K Prakash a devotional painter, an interior designer, a fashion designer and an author of around 22books on Devotional Art and Textile Designing/Fashion published in India and abroad. From an award winning Kerala based young painter boy to a National Award winner painter in Mumbai.

K Prakash threw a party on 11Nov at ArtDesh the Studio to celebrate the inauguration of his solo exhibition Mumbai Local– with some amazing installations and huge paintings on– the different faces of Mumbai's life. The famous cartoonist Vikas Sabnis inaugurated the exhibition. Artists Daxa Khandwala, Padmanabh Bendre, Kiran Chopra, Amisha Mehta, Rupali Madan, Gautam Patole, Prithvi Soni, Nipun Kumar, owner of ArtDesh the studio Bharat Patel, curator Yash Kohli and art critic Swapna Vora graced the event. Dj Sarikah Rai played some mandi and rustic music to build the atmosphere and Navin Gandharv played the Belabaharr a unique musical instrument.

Vikas Sabnis also sketched K Prakash's caricature at the gallery. "I am just amazed with the expressions of Mumbai captured by K Prakash and the way he has displayed through his works."

"K Prakash has brought forth the essence of Mumbai in his show. From the life line of Mumbai as local trains to the rustic Dharavi and the carefree attitude of the city all are depicted in a unique manner. The installation where he sketched the cart-puller on his cart is truly noteworthy," said Kiran Chopra.

Where Padmanabh Bendre felt that, "the artist was influenced by the common objects around us and has expressed it in an imaginative and creative way. The objects such as carts, dabbas, keys and cillies were aesthetically interwoven with forms, space, texture and colour which only a creative artist can capture."

Asking about his exhibition K Prakash said, "With Mumbai local – I am just trying to portray Mumbai's day to day life. What we see and experience – that all has some story and visions weaved within. I am happy to find that people admired my work and that's the biggest award for an artist."

Well that's Mumbai Local.

Monarch meets his match-'King & I'

On 7Nov2008 at Ashish Balram Nagpal gallery, Juhu, gallery director Mukteshwari Nagpal threw a party for artist Savia Mahajan, whose exhibition is on since 1Nov at Ashish Balram Nagpal Gallery, Colaba till 15Nov.

Among the celebrities were actor Aamir Ali, Shruti Sharma, Kanishk Gangwal, Gaurrav Chanana, artists Chintan Upadhyay, Rajat Kaanthi Dharr, Shiv Sagar, Vipul Salvi, Dilip Chobisa; Sunita Menon, Manish Malhotra, NiranjanIyenger, gallery director Mukteshwari Nagpal, socialites Raman Kaikar, Reena Gupta, Umesh Jivnani and many pg3 celebrities ….graced the event.

On asking about the artist Savia Mahajan, Ashish Balram Nagpal says, "I find unique personal style in her works. It's totally from 'within' uncorrupted by trends."

Where Savia was more like going ga-ga about Ashish, "I am not going to say good things about Ashish Balram Nagpal just because he has given me a great platform, but very genuinely Ashish has a great sensitivity towards understanding the temperament of every artist who is with him and that makes him stand apart and makes him special from all others. To me as an artist Ashish is surely the wind beneath my wings, having someone to back you with that sensibility is very rare today." She continued about the exhibition, "I love every bit of how the show has gone so far. It's my first solo show so very obviously its special to me. When you create things that you love and enjoy and  you find that the people who view it enjoy and relish too; It's an unexplainable & awesome feeling and it also excites you to have another and a more interesting show."

After 'Art-Jalsa' and then one of Chintan Upadhyay and Ivan Smith's shows Ashish took a break from celebrating at his Juhu Gallery. But now seems he is back again.  

YUVRAAJ PARASHAR CELEBRATES HIS BIRTHDAY

Yuvraaj Parashar is very happy with the things he is doing these days.His film Fashion released where he has done a cameo.He wanted to celebrate his birthday in style .He called al his friends for his party.The party started at 10.30 pm at Rio lounge,andheri west.Pradeep Sharma was the first to come for the party.Yuvraaj cut the cake also .He danced with all the guest in the party..Kamaal Khan the hero of film Deshdrohi was also seen in  the party.Other guest who came were Megha Chatterji,Jennifer,Rehan,Dj Sheizwood,Dj T-Nu,Hrish Tandon,Khusboo,Kapil Sharma,Parag Chapekar,Manoj,Sidharth,Bobby Darling and many more.Yuvraaj is doing a film called Ka ki ko where he is playing the main lead.He was very happy when all his friends came to wish him happy birthday.  The party went till vee hours.
